Immunogenic activity of Liposome incorporated Lipopolysaccharide Antigen of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium in Mice

The study was conducted to assess the role of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium as a causative pathogen in hospitalized diarrhoeal patients younger than five years old, extract and purify endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide; LPS) from isolated and identified Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, determine the role of  LPS-liposome conjugate as a potential vaccine against Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium in albino male mice, and finally evaluate humoral and cellular immune responses (total and absolute counts of leukocytes, phagocytosis, Arthus reaction

In this study, twenty five swabs and twenty five biopsies were collected from twenty five patients suffering from chronic osteomyelitis (one biopsy and one swab from each patient) from Al-Yarmouk Teaching Hospital , Surgical Specialist Teaching Hospital and Baghdad Teaching Hospital in Baghdad during the period June 2010 to May 2011  Results showed that the most common affected gender with chronic osteomyelitis were males with 84% , and the highest incidence were recorded at the age group of 30-39 years distributed between (7) for males (28%) and (3) for female

Inhibitory effect of the two-fold concentrated filtrates was increased to (17) millimeter for L. acidophilus and (18) millimeter for L. gasseri in comparison to (12) millimeter and (11) millimeter, respectively, for the one-fold filtrates after incubat

Sixteen isolates of Lactobacillus spp. were obtained from different sources including dairy products, vinegar, pickles and two locally vaginal isolates by primary culturing on De Mannes Rogoza Sharp (MRS) agar before subjection to cultural, microscopic and biochemical tests. To examine their inhibitory activity against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), all isolates were cultured once on solid and other in liquid MRS media. Results revealed that high inhibitory effect was detected by the isolates that propagated in liquid medium than on the solid.
