Phenomena of mixing Ethylene Glycol /Water System for Freezing Point Measurements
Experimental work is carried out to find the minimum value of freezing point that can be obtained for Ethylene Glycol – water solution. 5% wt. of methanol is added to the Ethylene glycol – water solution to investigate its effect on freezing temperature. The experiments also included determination of boiling temperature of Ethylene Glycol – water solution with and without methanol at different ethylene glycol concentrations from 0 to 100 weight per cent at temperature 20°C and 1 atmosphere pressure.
Characterization of mono, binary, and ternary sphere packing
This work presents the study of single phase fluid flow through a packed bed, where two type of fluids were used (air and water). Spherical glass particles were used as solid phase, the glass spheres were 0.9987, 0.7955, 0.6015, 0.509, 0.4210 cm in diameter. The bed was 7.64 cm in diameter and 15.15 cm in length. Many variables were studied in this packed bed.
Studying The Parameters Affecting The Pressure Drop Across The Packed Bed
Semi-empirical equations for fluid flow through packed bed have been achieved, depending on Buckingham π theorem. Two types of fluids have been used (water and air) separately (single phase flow). Several types and kinds of packing materials with different sizes have been used in the packed bed, and each had been studied separately. Different parameters affecting the pressure drop of fluid flow
Simulation of Batch Distillation
The importance of batch distillation process in chemical, petroleum and pharmaceutical industries to separating the liquid mixture into their constituent components. The present work is concerned with developing a computer program using short-cut model and a simulation computer program using rigorous model to analyze multi-components non ideal mixture, multistage batch distillation column using MATLAB version 6.5. The short-cut model has been used to calculate minimum number of stage using Fenske equation and minimum reflux ratio using Underwood equation.
Investigation of Correlations for Prediction of Critical Properties of Pure Component
Prediction of accurate values of critical properties of any pure component is very important because they are often utilized in estimating the physical properties for chemical process design. Experimental measurements of critical properties for components are very difficult. So in order to obtain accurate critical property values, attention has been turned to calculate it using mostly a group contribution method which is difficult method. To overcome this problem efforts where directed to modify or improve equations to calculate critical properties using relatively simple method.
PREDICTION OF PRESSURE DROP IN PACKED BED FOR WATER AND AIR SYSTEMS
Semi-empirical equations for fluid flow through packed bed have been proposed, depending on statistical fitting of experimental data. Two types of fluids have been used (water and air) separately (single phase flow). Several size distributions of sphere packing materials have been used in the packed bed, and each had been studied separately. Different parameters affecting the pressure drop of fluid flow through
STUDY ON DYNAMIC OF DOUBLE-PIPE HEAT EXCHANGER
In this work it has been attempted to study the dynamic behavior of a double pipe heat exchanger both experimentally and theoretically. The double pipe heat exchanger configuration simulated consisted of two
concentric pipes, the outer pipe carries the hot fluid and the inner pipe carries cold fluid and the circulation of the two fluids is made by two pumps. The influence of the following variables studied are the flow
Behavior of Mixtures of Heavy Oil Stocks and Waxes
Experimental work is carried out to study behavior of mixture of mixing of two types of waxes (paraffin and microcrystalline) and different types of heavy oil (base stock 40, base stock 60, base stock 150, furfural extract 60 and furfural extract 150).The experimental work included the determination of important properties of mixture which are drop point, penetration, and copper corrosion. Also the experimental work included the investigation of the effect of wax weight percentage, wax type and heavy oil type on these properties of mixture.Various types of mixtu
ANALYTICAL COMPARISON BETWEEN LASER BEAM AND ELECTRON BEAM WELDING
Laser and electron beams are presently widely applied to many fields of material processing. Laser and electron beams produce the highest heat sources intensities used in welding process. This work investigates analytical comparison which discusses the differences and similarities between laser and electron beam welding. These comparisons have been made in three aspects. The first explains the main
STUDY OF VAPOR – LIQUID EQUILIBRIA OF PETROLEUM FRACTIONS
The calculations of vapor – liquid equilibria for petroleum fractions are important in design and operation of petroleum processing equipment. The most important vapor – liquid calculation for petroleum fractions is well known as the equilibrium flash vaporization curve (EFV).
