This study included extraction of total flavonoids compounds from Matricaria chamomile flowers that grown in Iraq. The extract was brown color crystals composition.
In this work two Iraqi plants (Datura Stramonium and atropa belladonna) has been studied. Extraction and isolation of atropine from these plants were investigated. The extraction was done using methanol as a solvent using soxlet apparatus. Atropine was identified by melting point which was found to be (113-116 o C) in Atropa belladonna and (114-118oC) in Datura stramonium which was in good agreement to the standard value (114-116C0).
A cross linked polymer was synthesized by condensation reaction between polyacrylic acid with succinic acid dihydrazide in the presence of phosphorus oxychloride. The products were characterized by FTIR. The resulted polymer has high rigidity and easily grinded, with high stability.This polymer was used as stationary phase for HPLC. This stationary phase has been packed into stainless steel column. The chromatographic performance of the newly packed column was characterized.
