Abstract:

The chip set manufactures partitions the modem function into two major components, the Microcontroller Unit (MCU), and the Modem Data Pump (MDP). This thesis presents the design and implementation of a system which is equivalent to single chip modem using the processor TMS320C25 as a MCU and R96DFX as MDP. The R96DFX MDP is used to execute the developed software to satisfy the requirements specified in International Telecommunication Union-Telephone (ITU-T) recommendations for the configuration technique:
• V.29QAM9600
• V.29 QAM 7200
• V.29 QAM 4800
• V.27 DPSK 4800
• V.27 DPSK 2400
• V.21 FSK 300
The performance of the developed system tested practically by connecting a transmitter single chip modem with a receiver one using a noisy channel. The six used configurations are checked individually, and the results are obtained.
