Prof.Dr. Adel Abdul Amir Mohammed Saeed, Head of the Department of Forensic Engineering at the Higher Institute of Forensic Sciences, Al-Nahrain University, in collaboration with master's student Maryam Issa Ali, has published a scientific research paper entitled Strengthening Reinforced Concrete Beams Against Torsion Using Near-Surface Mounted Steel Bars: Performance Evaluation and Practical Engineering Application.
The study is published in Structural Engineering and Mechanics, an international journal indexed in the Clarivate database. The research investigates the torsional behavior of reinforced concrete beams strengthened using the Near-Surface Mounted (NSM) technique with steel bars, aiming to evaluate the effectiveness of this method in enhancing torsional resistance and improving the structural performance of concrete elements.
The findings demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed technique in increasing torsional strength and reducing the likelihood of sudden failure, contributing to the advancement of engineering strengthening applications for reinforced concrete structures.
