Abstract: Indoor wheelchairs can be used for limited needs users, especially people with lower limb paralysis or spinal cord injuries which require limited speed motion. The aim of this study is to modify the actual design of the manual driven wheelchair to an electrically powered wheelchair. Controlling method for speed and motion was used and constructed using MULTISIM program Version (9). Feedback controlling system using Tachometer feedback voltage signal is used which make the system more stable. This method was chosen from many ways to control the DC motor. Introducing the Finite element analysis to this work was of a great help to know the exact position of high stresses in the seat-base of the chair. The structure was fully designed by using the ANSYS Version (5.4) and the element used was (Tetra 10-node Solid 92) program and the results were obtained in both static and dynamic motions for stress effect in three dimensional position . Result was collected for the ANSYS stress characteristics for the seat base which was accepted as load added to the wheel chair. The center of gravity and weight load results was collected in tables and by using the MATLAB V. (9) a plot diagram for them was drawn.
