Assistant Professor Dr. Anwar Shnawi Dhiyab, a faculty member at the College of Law at Al-Nahrain University, participated in the research forum for officials responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the Arabic language in ministries and institutions in Iraq, organized by the Iraqi Scientific Academy under the title “The Integrity of Official Communication Language: Problems and Solutions.”
Dr. Dhiyab presented his research titled “Linguistic Correction Methodology: Between Accuracy and Eloquence – A Case Study of Official Communication Letters.” The study addressed the causes of the spread of linguistic errors among employees, their types, the obstacles employees face when correcting official correspondence, and provided insights into the books used for correcting official communication. The research also examined specific examples such as “T‘amim and ‘Ammam,” “Mansoub and Muntasib,” “Formation of a Committee,” and others.
The research aimed to highlight the obstacles and challenges faced by official letter editors and the ways to overcome them, as well as clarify the methodology of books that address language correction for employees. The research concluded with several important findings, most notably the adherence to a rational linguistic methodology in correcting official letters, and making correct language, in accordance with the rules of Arabic, a primary criterion for drafting official communications.
