Under the slogan “Together Towards a Better Academic Future,” Al-Nahrain University organized the first scientific forum for the Unit of Investing Scholars’ Potential, attended by the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Hazem Abdul Razzaq; the university president, Professor Dr. Ali Abdul Aziz Al-Shawi; and the university’s assistant president for scientific affairs, Professor Dr. Omar Farouq, alongside college deans and a distinguished group of professors from various colleges of the university.
The forum opened with a speech delivered by Professor Dr. Hazem Abdul Razzaq, emphasizing the importance of the scholarship program as one of the leading projects supported by the ministry to achieve scientific and societal development.
The event featured a video presentation by the education and health official at the Iraq-Britain Business Council, along with a detailed presentation on the role of the Ministry of Higher Education in scholarship programs, delivered by Dr. Ali Kamel Sadiq. The forum also included a series of presentations highlighting the significance of utilizing scholars’ potential in advancing academic institutions.
The university president, Professor Dr. Ali Abdul Aziz Al-Shawi, expressed the university’s commitment to supporting scholars and investing in their potential. In his speech, he emphasized that scholars represent the leaders of the future, noting that the scholarship experience is a positive model capable of development and contributes to the advancement of Iraqi universities. He added that the university is working to harness this potential to enhance higher education in line with its vision for academic and research excellence.
For his part, the university’s assistant president for scientific affairs, Professor Dr. Omar Farouq, stated that the forum represents a fundamental step toward enhancing the role of scholars in supporting educational and research processes. He stressed the importance of leveraging the expertise gained during their postgraduate studies abroad and transforming it into research projects and development programs that address the needs of the academic community.
Dr. Hassan Musa Al-Moussawi, the director of the Department of Cultural Relations, added that the forum reflects the university’s vision of strengthening cultural and scientific ties with global institutions. He clarified that the scholarship program not only transfers scientific knowledge but also builds bridges of academic cooperation and exchanges experiences with international universities.
