The Computer Science Department at the College of Science at Al-Nahrain University discussed a master’s thesis by student Abdullah Kamil Sami titled “Plant Disease Detection Using Deep Learning Techniques.”
The study aims to design an artificial intelligence model to classify specific plant leaves, such as Alstonia, guava, mango, and lemon, into two categories: diseased and healthy, using machine learning and deep learning algorithms. It included data processing, feature extraction, and result classification, as well as comparing the performance of different algorithms.
The thesis highlighted the importance of using modern technology in the agricultural sector to improve production and protect crops, thereby enhancing food security and resource sustainability. These efforts position Al-Nahrain University at the forefront of academic institutions seeking to develop innovative solutions to agricultural challenges.
