Abstract:

Raman amplifiers utilize pumps to transfer energy from the pumps to the signals to be transmitted according to the Raman effect mechanism. Raman amplification comprises several advantages, from these advantages: the gain is non-resonant and independent of relative direction of a pump and a signal, its spectrum can be tailored by adjusting the pump wavelengths, the medium for propagation and amplification are the same, broad gain-bandwidth, and provide gain at any wavelength. Raman amplification was studied in liquid photonic crystal (olive oil). Two lasers were used (405nm) as pump laser and (650 and 808)nm as signal laser, these two lasers were entered sample of olive oil to amplify the signal according to Raman amplification technique. The two signals were amplified and the gain was calculated for both two signals as (4dB and 27.65dB) for (650nm and 808nm) respectively. Then, the olive oil has been injected in fiber to enhance the amplification of light and it was used in this work three types of fiber (LMA, ESM and Hollow core) fibers. The gain has been calculated for these three types of fiber as (8.451 dB, 3.679 dB and 0.1412 dB) for (LMA, ESM, and Hollow Core) fibers, the noise has been calculated as (0.315dB, 0.3149 dB and 33.08 dB) respectively. Then, it was compared among these three types of fiber.
