Abstract:

One of the most important applications of database in the industry and business world is the decision supporting system. Driven by the need to solve business problems in terms of multidimensionaldatabase (MDDB) in real time.MDDB objective is to analyze data, and it is optimized for data warehouse. MDDBs are frequently created using input from existing relational databases and address some of the weaknesses of the relational databases. This thesis is concerned by studying, designing and implementing a complete business intelligence solution using MDDB as its main data model. A complete multidimensional business intelligence solution has been designed and built from scratch using SQL Server 2012 with a business intelligence solution package; the solution can help to provide “intelligent” business decisions based on the analysis of available data as they occur.Relational database has been used as a data source for the solution; data has been studied and analyzed so it can support the right time business data. After that a SQL server based data warehouse has been built.Then, Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processeson the relational data have been performed using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and cubes where created and configured using SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).Then reports were created using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to provide the end user with information that enable users to analyze multidimensional data interactively and intuitively from multiple perspectives (dimensions)via interactive web interface. These reports provide the knowledge and information that have been mined from the relational data. Whole solution performance has been measured to reveal its functionality, Solution performance has proved system ability to be used as real time business intelligence solution.
