A stainless steel cylinder was used for the construction of new packing system based on up flow equipment An anion exchanger stationary phase far high performance liquid chromatography has been prepared from the reaction of poly styrene divinylbenzene with triethyiamine. The prepared stationary phase has been packed into an HPLC stainless steel column. This has been done using constructed packing system. The Chromatographic performance of the packed column was characterized by measuring the number of theoretical plates, height equivalent to a theoretical plates, capacity factor, selectivity factor and peak asymmetry by analyzing different anions on the newly packed column. These parameters were obtained from the analysis of some anions such as chloride, phosphate, thiocynate, acetate, oxaliate, carbonate and nitrate. The analysis of these anions using 1x105M potassium phthalate mobile phase at pH 6.5 with 1ml/min flow rate. The average value of theoretical plates was [24729.31]. The plate's height H was averaged 0.0154cm. Capacity factor K for the analyzed anions were ranged from 1.87 to 6.05 with this column. Peak asymmetry with an average value of 1.43 which indicates a good column performance. Chromatographic analysis of a mixture of anions was measured with UV-visible detector at [215nm] and conductivity detector. Chromatogram of a mixture containing seven anions has given well separated and symmetrical peaks. Calibration curves for all analyzed anions were linear from their detection limits to SOppm. The correlation coefficients for the liner calibration curves were ranged from [0.9985-0.9997]. The detection limits were ranged from [0.15-0.45] ppm using both detection techniques
