Effect of Partially Purified Arthrobacter spp. Polysaccharide on Nucleosome of HepG2 Cell Line
This study was designed to investigate the effect of Gram positive bacterial polysaccharide extracted from Arthrobacter on the DNA banding pattern of tumor cell line in vitro. Ten soil samples were
Investigation of Methane Oxidizers Community in Soil by Using Denaturant Gradient Gel Electrophoresis
Methanotrophs in soil serves as a major atmospheric methane sink, and soil management has a direct impact on the diversity of microorganisms in soil. This study was set to identify methanotrophs in soil under different management systems. The study was conducted at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC), Ohio State University (OSU), Wooster, Ohio, US as part of their long continuous research in No-Till production.
A Comparative Study on Treatment of Diabetic Foot Infection by Acetic Acid, Rifampicin and Probiotics
This study was aimed to treat diabetic foot infection patients by different methods and ways in order to select the best treatment. For such purpose, a total of 67 foot swab samples were collected from patients of both sexes who referred to three hospitals in Baghdad during the period of 4/11/2012 – 30/1/2013.
The Relationship between Thyroid Disorders and Helicobacter pylori Infection
This study was aimed to investigate the association between thyroid disorders and Helicobacter pylori infection in 122 patients (100 females and 22 males ) referred to the Specialized Center for Endocrinology and Diabetes at Al –kindy Hospital in Baghdad . For comparison, 60 healthy individuals (31 females and 29 males),who had no thyroid disorders, were also included in the study. Blood samples were collected from both patients and the healthy individuals.
Biodegradation of oil spills and fuel contaminated soils by Streptomyces isolates
Five soil samples (contaminated with oil spills for many years) were collected from different places in Baghdad. From these samples, fourteen isolates were obtained as a preliminary degraders for hydrocarbons. The isolates were recultured in the mineral salt medium supplemented with crude oil and diesel, separately, to ensure their degradation ability.
Bacteriological and Genetic Studies on Oxacillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Some Hospital in Baghdad City
Two hundred and six clinical specimens were collected from four different hospitals in Baghdad during the period (February to October 2010) ; these specimens included swabs from anterior nares, hands and ear swabs that were collected from visitors, hospitalized patients and the health care workers in these hospitals. Diagnostic results show that 154 out of the 206 specimens gave positive

Effect of Magnetic Field on Growth and Biochemical Indices of Some Fungi
The effect of static magnetic field on the growth and biochemical indices of five fungal species were studied (Aspergillus niger, Alternaria alternate, Fusarium oxysporum, Penicillium chrysogenium and Rhizopus oryzae). Exposing the above species to the northern pole, southern pole and both poles and their influences were compared with the control treatment (without magnetic field energy).
Isolation, Identification and Genetics of Nylon6 Degrading Pseudomonas putida
Sixty-four soil samples (contaminatedwith nylon waste for many years) were collected from different places in Baghdad. From these samples, fortysevenisolates were obtained as a degrader for nylon6
film. These isolates were repeatedly tested in mineral salt medium supplemented withnylon6 film to ensure their degradation ability; only 27 isolates appeared tohave degradation ability fornylon6
Effect of Liposome Conjugated Lipopolysacchariede of Shigella flexneri Against Shigellosis in Mice
This study was conducted to determine the role of lipopolysaccahride-liposome conjugate (LPS-LIP) as a potential vaccine against shigellosis in mice. One hundred stool samples were collected from children and infants (100cases: 63 males and 37 females) under the age of five years (40 days – 2.5 years old) with diarrhea from different hospitals in Baghdad city during the period December 2011-May 2012. Thirty isolates were suspected to be Shigella.
