Design and implementation of direct sequence FPGA-based acquisition and tracking systems.

Abstract : One of the most popular techniques now a day for data spreading is Direct Sequence Spread spectrum (DSSS). The data that is to be wireless ransmitted is multiplied with a high frequency pseudo-random noise (PN) sequence at the transmitter. The work in this thesis presents the design, simulation, implementation and testing of a direct sequence spread spectrum receiver. The receiver employs a Binary-Phase-Shift Keying (BPSK) signaling scheme.

Spectral analysis for non-sinusoidal PWM with variable switching frequency for harmonic reduction in inverters

Abstract: Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) is a very commonly used method in DC/AC conversion. Actually, any stream of pulses that have a high fundamental component can be assumed as PWM strategy. The most compatible technique of PWM for the use with variable speed control of induction motor is the Carrier Based PWM (CB-PWM). They are divided into two groups, Continuous PWM (CPWM) and Discontinuous PWM (DPWM). They all can be implemented using triangle intersection method and most of them can be implemented using direct digital method.

Coding of video over IP-based networks.

Abstract: The increasing demand to incorporate video into communications services and the continuous developments in telecommunication, create a demand for finding efficient ways for compression techniques. In this research, the interframe approach is designed and implemented by Visual Basic language 6.0 with H.263, where the H.263 is the most important compression standard for video over the Internet. Many techniques have been applied for motion estimation for video compression. The motion estimation process is the most significant factor in a video compression process.

Analysis of ATM-based satellite channel.

Abstract: Telephone networks are an essential part of modern life, the newest version or generation is the broadband integrated services digital network (BISDN). The B-ISDN uses the ATM as a transmission protocol. ATM is a streamlined form of packet switching suitable for high speed networks; it developed as a part of B-ISDN. Its importance grows especially after the introduction of IP over ATM. It is a flexible mode of transfer. It can provide many QoS categories and can work with different rates.

Two-dimensional device simulation of AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistor (HEMT).

Abstract: Microwave power transistors made of conventional semiconductors have already approached their performance limit. In order to meet the future needs of wireless communication systems, research efforts are directed to wide bandgap semiconductors such as GaN. The combined merits of high power and high speed can be achieved using High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMTs) made of AlGaN/GaN materials system. In this work, presents both one-dimensional and two-dimensional models to assess the static characteristics of AlGaN/GaN HEMT.

Harmonic elimination in PWM inverter for UPS

Abstract : This thesis deals with the analyses of UPS system and how the output voltage of the UPS can be stabilized at a certain Level, also it studies the performance parameters of the converters included in the UPS system (rectifier and inverter). For the three-phase bridge rectifier, the harmonic components present in the output voltage waveform of the three-pulse, six-pulse and twelve-pulse are investigated. It is found that the orders of the generated harmonics are the same, but the amplitudes of these harmonics decrease with increase of number of pulses.

Design and realization of cellular neural networks for optimization and image processing

Abstract : Cellular Neural Network(CNN) used and tested in this work for solving many scientific problems in image processing, pattern recognition, and optimization by use of stored program with designed templates. As it is known, CNNs are locally interconnected arrays; these arrays consist of identical dynamical cells (neurons) that operate in parallel. The connection between cells is controlled by the designed template. These templates determine exclusively the CNN dynamic behavior.

Simulation of fault detection and identification of a simple aircraft model

Abstract : In general, it is difficult to automatically detect faults within large-scale engineering plants early during their onset. This is due to a number of factors including the large number of components typically present in such plants and the complex interactions of these components, which are poorly understood. Traditionally, fault detection within these plants has been performed through the use of status monitoring systems employing limit checking fault detection. .
