Cytogenetic and Cytotoxic Studies on the Effect of Phytoinvestigated Active Compounds of Hyoscyamus niger (in vivo and ex vivo)

In this study, different extracts of Hyoscyamus niger were detected using different chemical methods. Alkaloids were represented the major compound in thus plant, this, it selected for further study. Genetic effects of alkaloidal extract on mice were determined using several parameters such as mitotic index (MI); micronuclei assay (MN) and chromosomal aberrations (CAs). The results showed increasing mitotic index and decreasing the spontaneous frequency of chromosomal aberrations and

Transformation of Salt Tolerant Lactuca sativa with Cholera toxin B Gene for Production of Edible Vaccine

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) is one of the most important edible plant worldwide. At the time that lettuce is the candidate plant to carry the foreign vaccine gene for human. The B subunits of toxin of Vibrio cholerae (CTB) are candidate vaccine antigens. This study was conduct to express CTB gene in lettuce chloroplast. After surface sterilization of lettuce seeds, they were germinated on Murashige and Skoog (MS) half strength medium.
