Abstract:

With the increase in bandwidth of most new high-end applications and the inability of many of today's bus architectures to handle the speeds required by these applications; it has therefore become necessary to try and find an architectural solution to this problem while maintaining the utilixation of the available bus architectures. In this project, a thorough description is done on the various types of ADCs and DACs. An extensive description of computer buses was also made. While locusing on the most prominent types of buses used in the design of systems today which are the VME and PCI buses. An architectural solution is suggested that best solves the problem proposed through the use of the RACEway backplane fabric, which, is a high-speed interconnect fabric developed for use in systems running highspeed real-time applications.
