Nahrain University/Dr.Muhamad Akram
In the support of president of Nahrain University , Prof. Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib ,a number of projects of different specializations are succeeded with the real , methodological , academic and research efforts of the students and their professors that imply the higher education quality and diligence .Among the projects whose consequences have reached the international dimensions , the University attempts to enrich the scientific , academic and research exchange between universities and the international scientific institutions between the diligent international universities as the College of Engineering of Nahrain University which makes a project International Design Studio in cooperation with the Architecture College in UMD University sponsored by the international company Gensler . This project is supported by the assist. President for the scientific affairs ,Dr.Abad Al-Jabar Nemma Khalafah and directly supervised by the dean of College of Engineering ,the prof. Jasem Al-Sabagh .A set of meetings is held between the students of the Architecture College and these of the Architecture College in UMD University in the form of workshop for three weeks.It aims for exchanging the scientific ,research views between students in the same specializations by making seminars in which a set of questions and inquiries are done between the two partners which manifest the capability of high scientific efficiency of these students. Such meetings imply Bridging the Gap Studio in which the students of Narain University ,on the one hand , make a civilized development project in the Washington area and the students of UMD studio ,on the other hand , make a project of development in Liberalization Area ( Sahat-altahrer) in Baghdad. In addition ,the two partners exchange the customs of civilized folklore inheritance of the two states as well as many questions about Baghdad and Washington are raised.At the end ,the winners are declared involving Dahlia Red and Shams Qes /College of Engineering / Architecture Engineering Dept./Fourth Stage /Iraq and the two American students :Jennifar and Paula / UMD University /USA.Also this program comprises choosing the winning students of both universities a paid training opportunity sponsored by Gensler .Moreover, presenting all the works of students within this global deigning studio in a volume supported by Gensler and showing them in the National Building Museum in Washington.
The working team of Iraqi side is leaded by the assist.prof.Dr.Shama Hameed Hussein /Iraq and it includes the following members:
1-Asst.prof.Dr.Shmah Hameed Husein-Assist. dean for the scientific affairs(the responsible of the Nahrain studio).
2-The instr.Rahsa Abad-Al-Kareem (member of teaching committee/Fourth stage).
3-The engineer ,Husan Hadi (member of teaching committee/Fourth stage).
4-Students of the Fourth stage (the Cultural Exchange Studio)which incudes 16 students.
