The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the Presidency of Al-Nahrain University, in collaboration with the College of Information Engineering, organized a seminar titled “Irregular Migration.” The seminar was delivered by consultants from the Center for Labor Resources and Labor Migration, Maryam Hamid Abbas and Ali Ghazi Abdul Najm, and attended by a number of students and academics.
The seminar aimed to shed light on the causes of irregular migration, particularly those linked to the pursuit of opportunities in developed countries offering employment. It also addressed the risks associated with this phenomenon, the legal consequences faced by irregular migrants, and the importance of raising awareness among students and the community about these issues.
The seminar concluded with recommendations emphasizing the need to enforce domestic and international laws to limit irregular migration, impose deterrent penalties, and reject the reception of irregular migrants in countries they enter illegally. It also highlighted the importance of joint cooperation to address this phenomenon.
