The College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University organized a scientific seminar on the occasion of Arabic Language Day, titled “The Common Origins of the Arabic and Akkadian Languages.” The seminar was presented by Professor Emeritus Dr. Nawala Ahmed Al-Mutawalli from the College of Archaeology at the University of Mosul, in the presence of several faculty members and students.
The seminar addressed the evolution of ancient languages since their inception, focusing on Old Babylonian and its branches, as well as the Assyrian language. It highlighted the stages of their development and their influence on the region. Additionally, the seminar discussed the significance of the Arabic language and the challenges it currently faces, such as linguistic duality and the impact of social media on proper language usage.
The seminar witnessed significant interaction among attendees, emphasizing the importance of preserving the Arabic language and its status as the language of Arab identity and culture.
