Dr. Ahmed Wahid Mustafa from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Al-Nahrain University published a scientific paper titled “Structural Design of the Equivalent Fence under Natural Thermal Load and Radiative Heat” in the International Journal of Thermal Sciences, published by Elsevier, which is classified in the first quartile (Q1).
The paper discusses a new design method using the structural design methodology, “Bijan’s Method,” which constrained the height to the length while allowing freedom for the width. The researcher presented an innovative design for an equivalent-shaped enclosure under thermal and radiative loads, demonstrating that the optimal design is achieved when the height of the enclosure is equal to its width.
The paper also discusses practical applications of this design, particularly in Compound Parabolic Concentrators (CPC) used in solar collector systems. The results were validated using scale analysis, reinforcing the importance of this study in advancing solar energy technologies.
