Al-Nahrain University hosts the ceremony of the Higher Education Reading Award in its second edition , 2024 under the sponsorship of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi with the participation of university presidents, the organized committee and the families of the honored students.
During the ceremony which is held by the attendance of Prof. Dr. Ali Abdulaziz Al-Shawi, President of Al-Nahrain University, his assistants and the college deans , the Minister of Higher Education honors the award-winning students. They are 40 students from various Iraqi public and private universities for their creativity and excellence in reading and cultural engagement.
In his speech, the Minister asserts that the award has opened broad prospects for enhancing general culture among students. He sheds light on how such initiatives contribute in achieving integration between academic and cultural aspects enhancing the feasibility of higher education and advancing the level of intellectual skills. The Minister also explains that these initiatives pave the way for transitioning from competitions to a scientific research environment stressing the Ministry’s commitment to support student creativity and developing their potential.
On her part, Dr. Lubna Khamees Mahdi, Director General of the Research and Development Department and representative of the organized committee states that the award aims for strengthening the cultural values among students and develop their intellectual capacities through engagement with rich scientific and cultural content which contribute in building conscious and cultured society.
The event concludes with the distribution of prizes totaling 100 million Iraqi dinars to the winners with the expressions of gratitude and appreciation for the organized committee’s exerted efforts for the success of this competition.
