This study was an attempt to throw light on some epidemiological and scrological aspects of brucellosis in Suwaira. A total of sample examined was (537), (309) from rural area, (157) from Urban area,(34) from bedwain and (37) from people raising buffa¬loes. Rose bengal test was done for all and positive total cases were (52) 9.7%. Positivity among different groups were: 32.4%. from bedwain 11.0% from rural area 10.8% from people raising buffaloes 1.9% from urban The highest positivity was observed in children under 10 years. Male to female ratio was 1/0.5. Sheepereds were the group with highest positivity 29%, among other occupations-farmers 11%, house wive? 3.2%, student, 8.2% children 20.5%, unspecified worker 2.0% Direct contact with animals screation gave the highest positivity 14.2% and more than the indirect consumption of animal products (8.4% -12.1%) and contact with camels gave highest positivity 28.6% compared with catties and buffaloes 13.2%, goats 12.5% and sheep 11.7% . Illitracy level plays an important role in the infection with brucel¬losis, illitrate positivity was 14.8%, those who read and write 7.7%, pri¬mary teaching 5.4%, secondary teaching 2.2% , and college was Zero. Rose bengal is a highly specific test 95.7% with low sensifivitv 35.3%.
