Abstract:

Leishmaniasis is caused by the infection of haemoparasite Leishmania species. This in vitro study was designed to explore the possible leishmaniacidal activity of some selected antimicrobial drugs namely Miltefosine, Chloroquine and Clindamycin against L.donovani, L.major and L.tropica.Viability of the parasite was counted daily for 5, 3 days to promastigotes and axenic amastigotes respectively, while intramacrophage amastigotes only the life amastigotes were counted inside the macrophages after 3 days of applied drugs.Miltefosine, chloroquine and clindamycin were found to be effective leishmaniacidal agents against Leishmania species in vitro and showed a compatible effect in compassion to Meglumine antimoniate the standard therapy for leishmaniasis.
