Abstract:

This thesis deals with the study of the theoretical principles and analysis of the medium - PRF radar working as an airborne station .The main problem in airborne radar which contaminate the real air target with clutter which comes from the ground with much higher power than the real target and moves at the speed of the platform this problem can besolved using medium - PRF principles , therefore this study includes the proper selection of PRF values The study also include SNR and SCR calculations for medium - PRF radars , also airborne clutter is studied by computer simulation .After the study , the processing system is designed and simulated in the computer . The signal processing system that is implemented in this work includes platform speed compensation system , delay-line canceller , Doppler filter banks , CFAR , and- the correlation process . The system performance is evaluated by application of software algorithm , which take into consideration different parameters of a given radar such as : antenna gain , antenna bearing , speed of platform , target radar cross-section , ground reflection coefficient , range ,etc. The results of simulation for different values of radar factors are then analyzed to evaluate the designed system for the required purposes . Simulation results show that the medium PRF radar can detect targets in the presence of ground clutter at long ranges , and it is the best choice for,, all of target aspects , altitudes , and speeds- up to 800 m/s .
