This study contains the synthesis and characterisation of the pentadentate oximeimine ligand N,N-bis[(2-hydroxyimino-2-phenylacebenzylidene) ethylamino] amine (H3L) type (N5) and the mono and dinuclear complexes with some metal ions. The ligand was prepared from the reaction of- diethylenetriamine with benzil
monoxime in ethanol under reflux. The reaction of (1-equv.) of the ligand with (1- equv.) of some metal ions under neutral condition, gave complexes of the general formula [M(HnL)XaZb]YcDe Where, M= Ni¹¹, n=l, X=0, Z=0 Y=H2O, c=l, D=0 [Ni(HL)]H2O Fe¹¹, n=2, X- Cl, a=l, Z=0 Y=H2O, c=l, D=0 [Fe(H2L)Cl]H20 Co11, n=l, X=0, Z=0 Y=H2O, c=l, D=0 [Co(HL)]H2O Cu¹¹, n=2, X= Cl, a=l, Z= H2O, b= 1, Y=0, D=0 [Cu(H2L)Cl.H2O] Mn11, n=2, X= 0, Z=0, Y= Cl, c=l, D=H2O, e=l [Mn(H2L)]Cl.H2O While the reaction of (1-equv.) of the ligand with (2- equv.) of some metal ions under basic condition gave complexes of the general formula [M2(H2L)Xa]ZbYc Where, M= Ni11, X=C1, a=2, Z=C1, b=2, Y=0 [Ni2(H2L)Cl2]Cl Fe¹¹, X=C1, a=2, Z=C1, b=2, Y=0 [Fe2(H2L)Cl2]Cl Co11, X=C1, a=2, Z=C1, b=2, Y-H2O, c=l [Co2(H2L)Cl2JCl.H20 Cu11, X-C1, a=2, Z=C1, b=2, Y=H2O, c=l [Cu2(H2L)Cl2]Cl.H20 Mn11, X=C1, a=2, Z=C1, b=2, Y=H2O, c=l [Mn2(H2L)Cl2]Cl.H20. All compounds were characterised by spectroscopies methods [(I.R, and (UV-Vis) and atomic absorption (A.A)J, elemental analyses (C. H. N), melting point, molar conductivity (HPLC), and magnetic moment. The molar conductivity measurements showed that some complexes are non-electrolyte, while others are electrolyte with (1: l) and (1:2) ratio.
