This work covers the synthesis and characterization of the tetradentate ligand (H4L¹) type (N2S2), the reaction of the ligand with some metal ions gave complexes of the general formula: [(X)n M(HyL¹)] Where: X= Na, and K (y=0, n=2, M=Zn¹¹,y=0, n=l, M=Rev), (y=l, n=l, M=Cd¹¹, Hg¹¹ and Co¹¹, and the reaction of Zn11 compound with pyridine gave compound of the general formula: [(Na)nZn(HyLI)py],y=0,n=2 Also the work includes the preparation of some metal ions with the pentadentate ligand (H5L²). The reaction gave complexes of the general formula: [(X)n M(HyL2)] Where: X=K, (Et3N) or Na, (y=2, n=l, M=Ni¹¹, Cu¹¹ and y=2, n=2, M= Rev), (y=l; n=l, M=Co¹¹), (y=l, n=2, M= Fe¹¹ and Hg11) and (y=l, n=3, M= Ag1). All compounds characterized by spectroscopic methods (IR and UV-Vis), atomic absorption (A. A.), elemental analyses (C.H.N), melting point, molar conductivity ,some compounds characterized by (HPLC). The molar conductivity measurements showed that some complexes are electrolyte with (1:1) molar ratio, while others are with (2:1) and (3:1) molar ratio. The above studies also showed that the expected geometry around Zn¹¹, Cd¹¹, Hg¹¹ and Co¹¹ complexes displayed tetrahedral geometry while (Revand Zn (py))were a distorted square pyramidal
