Abstract:

In this study, biochemical and histopathological parameters were evaluated In placentae and sera of pre-eclampatic patients with age range (17-40 years) and control with age range (20-39 years) women. The samples were collected during the period 25/11/2001-20/2/2002 from the above groups during their admission to the Teaching Hospital for Obstetric and Pediatric at AI-Dewania City. The collected placentae have been lyophilized using lyophilizer device and kept as powder to the time of analysis. The activity of SOD and the levels of Uric acid, Cholesterol, Glucose and Creatinine were measured in this powder. The GSH level was measured in the collected sera for patients and control groups. In The study gave the following results: • Statistical analysis shows a significant differences (P < 0.05) in activity of SOD and the levels of Uric acid, Cholesterol, Glucose and Creatinine in the placenta! tissue for the patients and control groups. While no significant difference (P > 0.05) observed for the placental urea level between the same groups. The study shows an agreement between the biochemical and histopathological results for the patients and control groups.
