Cytotoxic and Molecular Assessment of Hymenocrater longiflorus Plant in Human Carcinoma Cells

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Hymenocrater ongiflorus methanolic extract on human osteosarcoma U2OS cancer cell line and colon RKO cancer cell line. Chemical analysis of the crude methanolic extract of the plant was done sing High Performance Liquid Chromatography – electrospray tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI /MS) analysis for the phenolic compounds flavonoids,

MicroRNAs as Possible Biomarkers for Breast Cancer in Samples of Iraqi and British Women

This study aimed to determine the expression of microRNA molecules as early prognosis biomarkers for the detection of breast cancer. To achieve this project, a total of fifteen serum samples were collected from Iraqi women with breast cancer and from six serum samples were collected from healthy women volunteers as a control group.

Genetic study on virulence factors and cytotoxicity for Aeromonas hydrophila isolates

For the isolation of Aeromonas hydrophila, one hundred and twenty samples were collected from different locations in Baghdad governorate. These samples include 80 samples of fish gills and intestine,
20 samples of water, and 20 samples of chicken and meat. From the overall samples a total of 136 isolates were obtained. These isolates were further identified according to their morphological, icroscopical

Early Detection of Prolactin Elevation in Women Suffering from Infertility''

This study was constructed to discuss an issue regarding infertility cases that was attributed to hyperprolactinemia. About 150 blood samples were collected from women suffering hyperprolactinemia and 50 from normal subjects served as control for comparison. Test subjects were divided into three age groups: 20-30 years old, 31-40 years old and 41-50 years old. Tests of fertility hormones luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone and prolactin were performed for all study groups.

For the isolation of Proteus mirabilis, 85 samples were collected from different locations in Baghdad governorate. These samples include 20 samples of urine, 45 samples of wounds, and 20 samples of chicken and meat. From the overall samples a total of 146 isolates were obtained. These isolates were identified according to their morphological, microscopical characteristic and biochemical tests. Results of identification showed that 15 of the total isolates were belonged to P. mirabilis. These results were confirmed by identification using Api20E system.

Study the Effect of Ferula hermonis Extract on the Fertility in Male Mice

The present study was designed to detect the impact of fertility, histopathalogical and the cytotoxicity effect of ferula hermonis extract on male albino mice. To study the effect of F. hermonis, methanolic roots extract was prepared and chemical detection of flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, terpenes and steroids was carried out. The Thin Layer Chromatography analysis of methanolic extract showed that ferutinine was present based on RF value.

Molecular Identification of Klebsiella pneumoniae Using Capsule Genes

K. pneumoniae isolates was diagnosed molecularly by using polymerase chain reaction, 16S rRNA, rmpA and kfu genes were amplified and study the prevalence of the K serotypes, as well as, genes (except kfu gene) were amplified by using multiplex PCR. Results showed that all the isolates of K. pneumoniae gave a clear band with a molecular size 130 bp when PCR was performed with the primer that target the 16S rRNA.

Using Bean pod mottle virus (BPMV) as virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) vector to target multiple genes in Glycine max (L.) Merr.

Plant viral vectors are valuable tools for host gene analysis, thus possessing important applications as reverse genetics tools for gene function studies. Bean pod mottle virus (BPMV) is a bipartite, positive-sense (+) RNA virus of Secoviridae. Insertion of relatively short cDNA fragments (96nts) corresponding to different regions of soybean (Glycine max) phytoene desaturase1 (GmPDS1) into the 3' UTR of BPMV RNA2 initiated weak photobleaching manifested by white spots along the veins of soybean leaves.
