Abstract:

Region-To-Region communication of Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, depend on the three regional control center in Iraq, one of these regional control centers is Central Regional Control Center (CRCC) simulated as server program, and the other Regional Control Centers simulated as client program, achieved by a dual Ethernet link between these control centers. Communication protocols based on a layered architecture are responsible for managing the two links. The Region-To-Region system in this thesis consist of five layers (Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, and Application). The Physical layer uses the Ethernet adapter to connect the control centers (transmitting of massages on the two links simultaneously). In the Data Link layer uses PPP frame to carry data from upper or down layer with depending authentication protocol (for security ) in this layer. Network layered uses the IP (Internet Protocol) which have unique address of the host to deliver the data to specific host. Transport layer uses the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) protocol which is responsible for making and maintain the connection and sending/receiving data. Finally , the application layer which is used SCADA system for supervise the control center. The suggested software work under windows XP operating system which is implemented using visual basic programming language. The simulated communication protocols have been tested between two PCs and measuring the time delay and utilization. The simulation was working successfully and more efficient with previous studies.
