نشرت المدرس الدكتورة إيفان حميد سليمان المندلاوي، التدريسية في قسم التحليلات المرضية التطبيقية بكلية العلوم في جامعة النهرين، بحثًا علميًا في مجلة علمية مصنفة ضمن Scopus، تناول العلاقة بين مستويات الكوليسترول والسيتوكينات المناعية لدى مرضى داء الليشمانيات الجلدية.
ركز البحث على تحليل تأثير مستويات الكوليسترول الكلي وأنواعه المختلفة، بما في ذلك البروتينات الدهنية منخفضة الكثافة جدًا، منخفضة الكثافة، عالية الكثافة، بالإضافة إلى ثلاثي الغليسريدات، على التفاعل المناعي عبر السيتوكينات مثل الإنترلوكين 10، الإنترلوكين 12، وعامل نخر الورم ألفا.
وأظهرت النتائج تغيرات في مستويات الدهون والبروتينات الدهنية لدى المرضى، إضافةً إلى تحديد وحدتين مناعيتين قد تلعبان دورًا في تطور المرض. وأكد البحث على أهمية دراسة هذه التفاعلات لفهم الآليات المناعية والتمثيل الغذائي للمرض بشكل أعمق، مما يفتح المجال لمزيد من الأبحاث في هذا المجال.

A Faculty Member at Al-Nahrain University Publishes Research on the Relationship Between Cholesterol and Cytokines in Cutaneous Leishmaniasis
Dr. Evan Hamid Suleiman Al-Mandlawi, a faculty member in the Department of Applied Pathological Analysis at the College of Science, Al-Nahrain University, has published a scientific research paper in a Scopus-indexed journal. The study examines the relationship between cholesterol levels and immune cytokines in patients with cutaneous leishmaniasis.
The research focuses on analyzing the impact of total cholesterol levels and its various types, including very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL-C), low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C), and triglycerides (TG), on immune interactions through cytokines such as interleukin-10 (IL-10), interleukin-12 (IL-12), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α).
The results revealed changes in lipid and lipoprotein levels in patients, in addition to identifying two immune modules that may play a role in disease progression. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding these interactions to gain deeper insight into the immune and metabolic mechanisms of the disease, paving the way for further research in this field.
