College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University participates in the fifth symposium in cooperation with the German University “ Freiburg”

 

          A delegation from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University, represented by the head of department, Professor Dr. Aqeel Abdullah Muhammad, and a number of department professors and students, participated in the fifth scientific symposium for developing the academic partnership between German universities and Iraqi universities, which was held in Erbil Governorate, along with a broad participation from Iraqi universities and the German University of Freiburg. 
        As part of the first day program, the PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ali Abdel-Ghani Ibrahim, presented a research paper entitled “Design and Control of Rehabilitation of the Brain-Controlled Robotic Exoskeleton for the Lower Limbs,” which dealt with the design and development of a robotic exoskeleton for the lower limbs to help patients with disability and spinal cord injuries in their daily life activities such as walking, standing and sitting, as well as controlling the robotic exoskeleton using an EEG sensor to acquire the signal from the brain to sit, stand and walk.
         While the Assistant Professor Dr. Hala Salman Hassan from the College of Engineering at Al-Nahrain University, Coordinator of the Cooperation Program, chaired the fifth session within the second day’s program, which was entitled Academic competencies in progress, and sustainability in engineering curricula at the higher levels of education, research, and industry.
