Abstract:

The present work puts forward the study of the thermal effects on Nd:YAG laser rod by using interference method, the thermal effects which include temperature gradient, thermal stresses and thermal lensing on the Nd:YAG laser rod have been discussed by using theoretical and experimental treatments. The theoretical treatment shows the Nd:YAG rod has a positive thermal lens which affected by the change of the refractive index, which has been effected by temperature and stressdependent variation; While the experimental treatments by using the electrical oven and the arrangement beside, and the computer programming using MATLAB 7 software, shows the effect of this lens on the interference pattern with different surface rod temperatures.
