Under the patronage of the President of Al-Nahrain University
Prof. Dr. Nabil Kadum Abdul-Sahib, the college of Political Science at Al-Nahrain University had organized the Students' Conference under the title
(Our students are new creations for a new Iraq) with the participation of a large number of college professors and students of under and post graduate studies.
The aim of the conference which carried the slogan "For another enabled Iraq"
to discover the new creative energies and encourage the spirit of creativity and innovation for students. it is important to deploy and activate the democratic political culture and circulated at the expense of the traditional and authoritarian political cultures.
The conference included (25) academic research for students of under and post graduate students in various departments of the college of Political Science.
It has been discussed some of the important aspects, including that:
- Each college in Iraqi universities should hold an annual conference for students of under and post graduate studies according to its specialties,
- Claim the legislative authority to expedite the completion of the basic legislation to address the legislative deficiencies , particularly the law on political parties ,the law of oil and gas , laws to encouraging investment and other legislation which was noted in the constitution ,so that the Iraqi citizen has enjoyed with rights and political freedoms.
This matter needs to employ safeguards that have been stated by the Iraqi constitution concerning rights and freedoms through organizing laws that enable them to practice these freedoms and enjoy them as one of their rights through institutions.
Knowing that the rights and freedoms are guaranteed by the constitution in general and this guarantee is actually done, but it needs to be organized by laws, and this is really what needs to be achieved.
It is also needed to be empowered in practicing and enjoying through its institutions. This is what should be achieved as well.
The conference came out with several recommendations including:
-The necessity to care about the educational and media institutions on fighting terrorism and prevent its proliferation,
- Fighting against religious extremism, national intolerance, corruption and unemployment.
Knowing that there is an international and regional actor does not want to defeat terrorism as much as to serve their interests.
Sometimes they fight him, sometimes supported him and sometimes say nothing.
I n case of having to fight it, these sides wants to return them to the house of obedience. In case of support or keep silent, they really want to hired and serve their interests only.
The conference also recommended that the external political discourse should be an Iraqi national unified speech and the starting point of this speech should considered nationally and functionally and not ideologically or emotionally, especially in its relations with neighboring countries , taking into consideration the Iraqi national interests first and foremost .
The conference also emphasizes on how to work to enhance the economic reform programs and income, through the diversification of the various productive sectors and not rely only on oil sector only, trying to find other alternative sources of energies that are clean and inexpensive .
Finally ,making an advantage of the expertise of international economic organizations.
