CORROSION UNDER TWO – PHASE FLOW KEROSENE / WATER SIMULATED BY TURBLENTLY AGITATED SYSTEMS

The corrosion of carbon steel in agitation systems of single phase (1% wt. NaCl solutions) and two phases (1% wt.NaCl solutions / Kerosene) were investigated by weight loss and polarization techniques. In single aqueous phase the weight loss experiments were carried out at different rotational velocities (262, 349, 438, 525, 600, 612, 800, 1000, 1200 and 1400) rpm using circle disk turbine agitator of 8 cm diameter. The average corrosion rate increased with increasing rotational speed.

Heat Pump in Multicomponent Non-Ideal Distillation

This study deals with reducing energy requirement in multicomponent distillation processes using heat pump technique. Heat pump with and without split tower technique was considered for two ternary (Methanol-Ethanol-Water and Acetone-methanol-Water), and one quaternary feed systems (n-Hexane – MCP – Ethanol and Benzene)and many variables have considered  such as operating pressure, feed composition, and fractional recovery.  The separation was carried out using one configuration for each feed system according to their non-ideality.

Packed Bed Consisting of Different Sizes of Glass Spheres

The aim of this research is to study the packed bed using theoretical methods and experiments. Five types of glass spheres were used which represent the packed bed with diameters of(d972, d2 = 10.164, d3= 14.772, d = 20.614,d54 = 25.448 mm).The theoretical methods which were given by latif consist of calculating the pore diameter, mean pore diameter and the probability due to (number, length, area, and volume).

Effect of the Chemical Composition on Excess Volume of Mixtures with Petroleum Fractions.

Blending of oil stocks with hydrocarbons form non-ideal mixtures, for which excess volumes can be positive or negative depending to the nature of species.Gas oil mixed with nine petroleum fractions or individual hydrocarbons consisting of aromatics, and paraffinic nature in addition to an alcohol and a ketone. The systems  have been subjected to density measurements at two temperatures. The results are reported in terms of excess volume, VE .

MODIFICATION OF MOLECULAR SIEVES 13X AND THEIR POSSIBLE USES IN REMOVAL OF PHENOL POLLUTANTS

The removal of phenol pollutant from water was studied using continuous adsorption process onto MS type 13X. This adsorbent was treated with urea and thiourea to enhance its adsorption ability towards phenol. The preparation step was made by mixing of saturated solution of urea or thiourea, with powder molecular sieve 13X and adding sodium silicat as binder to give homogenous mixture in approximate weight percent, 20 wt% urea or thiourea, 30 wt% binder, 50 wt% MS13X.

INVESTIGATION of the CORRELATIONS P- V- T of COMPRESSED LIQUIDS at HIGH PRESSURES

Prediction of the accurate values of molar volume of compressed liquids is very important in process design calculation and other industrial applications. Experimental measurements of molar volume V for compressed fluids are  very expensive , so in order to obtain accurate V values, attention has been turned to calculate it from equation of state   Alto and Kiskinen[1] equation for pure non polar component,  using correlations to Tait equation for polar component, and modification of Rackett equation are used for mixtures.
