Abstract:

New advances in software and the Internet inevitably result in new malicious software threats, also known as malware. Today's number one threat facing networks is malware such as worms, trojans and viruses. In the project, viruses as the leading form of malware are discussed in detail. Trojans, worms and other network security threats are also defined. Three worms were analyzed: LoveLetter, an infamous worm that made headlines in early 2000, Code Red, a worm attacking Internet servers, and Samhain, a research worm. Finally, modifications are suggested to enhance the LoveLetter worm, and make it undetectable to antivirus software.
